Victorian Antique Rock Crystal & Diamond Cross
A beautifully crafted and rare antique cross pendant dating to the mid-to-late Victorian period (circa 1860–1900), set in the classic combination of silver and 9ct gold.
The cross is set with a harmonious arrangement of old mine cut diamonds, with a softly glowing, hand-cut brilliance typical of the era. The total diamond weight is conservatively estimated at approximately 2.50 carats. At each terminal sit natural saltwater pearls, adding a gentle contrast and a layer of elegance.
A particularly distinctive feature is the polished rock crystal panel behind the cross. Here it creates a subtle “halo” effect, giving the impression that the cross is suspended in light.
This design draws on earlier devotional and reliquary traditions, a theme often revisited in 19th-century jewellery.
Total weight: 36.84 grams.
